About Me

My Approach to Counselling

Because each person, relationship and situation is unique, I don’t attempt to use a single counselling approach with all my clients. My initial training was in the psychodynamic approach, and this remains at the heart of my practice. However, I have also trained in various other theoretical and clinical approaches which I draw from when it seems helpful. You can read a bit about these different approaches on the individual counselling and couple therapy pages. Most importantly, I aim to always be empathic, to listen without judgement and to work collaboratively with my clients.

As an accredited member of the BACP, I meet its standards for professional training and experience, and work according to its Ethical Framework. Maintaining client confidentiality is an important part of this. I don’t disclose the identity of my clients or the content of our sessions except when it is required by law, or when I am concerned about safety - yours or someone else’s.
